Jared Drake Bell (born June 27, 1986) is an American actor and musician. He was born in Newport Beach, California. Drake started his career as a child actor in the 1990s. He appeared on Home Improvement in 1994 and in many commercials.

He became well-known for his roles on Nickelodeon. He starred in the sketch comedy show The Amanda Show (1999–2002). He also played a main role in the sitcom Drake & Josh (2004–2007). Later, he appeared in the Nickelodeon TV movie series The Fairly OddParents (2011–2014).

Drake Bell also voiced Peter Parker / Spider-Man in the Disney XD series Ultimate Spider-Man (2012–2017). He won many awards, including ten Kids' Choice Awards. He also won a Teen Choice Award and a Young Artist Award.

Bell started his music career by helping with the soundtrack for Drake & Josh. He released his first album, Telegraph (2005), on his own. In 2006, he signed with Universal Motown Records. His second album, It's Only Time (2006), became very popular. His third album, Ready Steady Go! (2014), came out through Surfdog Records. Since then, he has released two more albums: The Lost Album (2020) and Non-Stop Flight (2024).

Early Life and Beginnings

Drake Bell was born on June 27, 1986, in Newport Beach, California. His mother is Robin Dodson, a former professional billiards player. His parents separated when he was five years old. Growing up in Orange County, Drake attended the OCSA. He enjoyed skateboarding and going to punk rock concerts. He says punk rock music influenced him a lot. He later earned his GED.

Career Highlights

Starting Out (1991–2003)

Drake Bell began acting when he was five years old. His father encouraged him after seeing his talent for public speaking. Drake said his dad asked him if he wanted to be an actor, and he said "Sure." He really loves acting and still does it today.

His first TV commercial was for Whirlpool Appliances. He thought, "I could get used to this!" His first TV show was Home Improvement in 1994. He also appeared in the 1996 movie Jerry Maguire. In 1998, he had a small part in the Seinfeld episode "The Frogger".

In 1999, he was in a commercial for Pokémon Red and Blue. He also acted in the film Dragonworld: The Legend Continues. In 2000, he was nominated for a Young Artist Award. This was for his role as Cage Redding in the TV movie The Jack Bull. He started playing guitar at age 12. He even got guitar lessons from Roger Daltrey when they starred together in the 2001 film Chasing Destiny. From 1999 to 2002, Bell was a regular on The Amanda Show. He also guest-starred on The Nightmare Room.

Big Success (2004–2009)

In 2003, Drake Bell got the role of Drake Parker. He starred with his Amanda Show co-star Josh Peck in the Nickelodeon series Drake & Josh. His song "Found a Way" became the show's theme song. It was also on the show's soundtrack, released in 2005.

During this time, he appeared on Nickelodeon's Zoey 101. He performed "Highway to Nowhere" in an episode called "Spring Fling". This song is also on the Drake & Josh soundtrack. He won "Favorite TV Actor" at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards three times in a row. In 2005, Bell co-starred with Miranda Cosgrove and Dennis Quaid in Yours, Mine and Ours.

Telegraph, Drake's first album, came out on August 23, 2005. It had 12 songs, mostly written by Bell. The album was re-released in 2007. One song, "Down We Fall," was played on a Drake & Josh episode. In 2005, Bell also appeared in a music video for the band Hawk Nelson. The song, "Bring 'Em Out," was in the movie Yours, Mine and Ours.

In 2006, Bell signed with Universal Motown. His second album, It's Only Time, was released on December 5, 2006. Bell wrote all the songs with help from C.J. Abraham or Michael Corcoran. The album reached number 81 on Billboard's Top 200 chart. It was very popular in Mexico, reaching number 4. It is his best-selling album in the U.S. with over 178,000 copies sold by 2012.

The first song from the album, "I Know," came out in October 2006. Its music video was also released then. "I Know" became a top song in Mexico. Another song, "Makes Me Happy," was featured in the Drake & Josh series finale, "Really Big Shrimp." This song was very popular.

Drake also sang on the theme song for iCarly, "Leave It All to Me." He sang it with his Drake & Josh co-star Miranda Cosgrove. A DVD called Drake Bell in Concert was released in 2008. It showed him and his band performing live in Mexico. The DVD included two new songs and five cover songs. In 2008, Bell starred in the comedy movie Superhero Movie. He recorded a theme song for the film with his co-star Sara Paxton. He also starred in College and Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh. In 2009, some of his songs were released on Myspace.

Recent Work (2010–Present)

In 2010, Drake Bell made a quick appearance as Drake Parker in an iCarly episode. He also had a guest role in I Owe My Life To Corbin Bleu. He played Timmy Turner in the TV movie A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner! in 2011. He played Timmy again in the 2012 sequel A Fairly Odd Christmas.

In 2011, Bell released a music video for his song "You're Not Thinking." His EP, A Reminder, came out on June 28, 2011. The main song from the EP was "Terrific." The EP was produced by John Fields.

In 2012, Bell appeared in a Shane Dawson YouTube video. He was cast as Spider-Man in the animated TV series Ultimate Spider-Man. He also voiced Spider-Man in video games like Marvel Heroes and Disney Infinity 2.0. He was in the 2012 Nickelodeon film Rags. In 2013, Bell was on the ABC reality show Splash, a celebrity diving competition. He finished in third place. He released a holiday song, "Christmas Promise," in 2013.

From 2013 to 2014, Bell voiced characters in animated films. These included The Naughty List, Adventure Planet, Birds of Paradise, and Under Wraps. He returned as Timmy Turner in A Fairly Odd Summer in 2014. In 2014, Bell was nominated for a Capital Twitter Award for a Twitter feud with Justin Bieber.

Bell's third album, Ready Steady Go!, was released on April 22, 2014. It was his first rockabilly album. It was produced by Peter Collins and Brian Setzer from the band Stray Cats. Bell said the album was like "going back to the future." The first song, "Bitchcraft," came out in January 2014. The album was recorded live. It reached number 182 on the Billboard 200 chart. Bell toured high schools across the U.S. to support the album. He also performed at a big concert in Mexico City for over 50,000 people.

He starred with Miranda Cosgrove in the animated film A Mouse Tale in 2015. Bell also appeared in the film L.A. Slasher and recorded a song for its soundtrack. He voiced characters in the U.S. version of The Frog Kingdom. He was in a documentary about rockabilly music. Bell voiced Spider-Man again in the 2015 game Disney Infinity 3.0. He also guest-starred with Josh Peck on Peck's TV show Grandfathered. Bell is set to star in a new digital series called Dan is Dead.

Bell went on a concert tour in Mexico in 2016. Tickets sold out very quickly. He continued touring high schools in the U.S. in 2016. Bell starred in the 2017 film Bad Kids of Crestview Academy. He released an EP called Honest in 2017. In 2018, he released a Spanish-English song, "Fuego Lento." In 2019, he released another EP, Smoke It Up.

In November 2023, Bell was revealed as Baby Alien on the Mexican TV show ¿Quién es la máscara?. In March 2024, Bell said he wanted to move to Mexico. He felt more at home there and had many friends. In 2024, Bell competed on The Masked Singer as "Ice King."

Helping Others

Since 2009, Drake Bell has supported The Thirst Project. This group helps solve the clean water crisis by teaching people about it. Bell helps by making public appeals and holding concerts to raise money. He has also helped other groups like Toys for Tots. In 2015, Bell performed at a charity event to support Rockin A Cure for cystic fibrosis.

Personal Life

In July 2021, Drake Bell shared that he married his girlfriend in 2018. They have a son together.

In 2007, Bell bought a house in Los Feliz. As of March 2024, Bell mainly lives in Mexico City.
