Discover New Brunswick's Islands

New Brunswick is home to many interesting islands. Let's explore some of them!

Grand Manan Island

Grand Manan Island is the largest island in New Brunswick. It covers about 137 square kilometers. This island is located in the Bay of Fundy, which is famous for having the highest tides in the world. Grand Manan is a popular spot for whale watching and exploring nature.

Lamèque Island

Lamèque Island is another large island, about 150 square kilometers. You can find it in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. This island is known for its beautiful coastal scenery and fishing communities. It's connected to the mainland by a bridge.

Miscou Island

Close to Lamèque Island is Miscou Island, which is about 100 square kilometers. It's also in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. Miscou Island is famous for its historic lighthouse and stunning peat bogs, which turn beautiful colors in the fall.

Campobello Island

Campobello Island is located in Passamaquoddy Bay, near the border with the United States. It's about 39.6 square kilometers. This island is well-known for being the summer home of former U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt. You can visit his historic cottage there.

Deer Island

Also in Passamaquoddy Bay is Deer Island, covering about 45 square kilometers. It's part of a group of islands in the bay. Deer Island is connected to the mainland by a ferry, and it's a great place to see marine life.

Heron Island

Heron Island is a smaller island located in Chaleur Bay. Unlike many other islands, Heron Island is uninhabited, meaning no people live there permanently. It's a peaceful spot, often seen from the mainland.

Navy Island

Navy Island was once located in Saint John Harbour. However, this island no longer exists. It was removed to create the foundations for the Harbour Bridge, which connects parts of the city of Saint John. This shows how islands can sometimes change or disappear due to human development.

Partridge Island

Partridge Island is another island in the Bay of Fundy, near Saint John. This island has a rich history, especially as a quarantine station for immigrants arriving in Canada. It also has a lighthouse and is a Canadian National Historic Site.

Darlings Island

Darlings Island is found in the Kennebecasis River. It's about 121.39 square kilometers. This island was named after Benjamin Darling, an early settler in the area. It's located southwest of Hampton.
