Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Minister-President of Thuringia is like the head of government for the German state of Thuringia. This important job was first created in 1920 when Thuringia became a state.

Later, on July 23, 1952, Thuringia was part of East Germany, which was a socialist country. At that time, the state was actually dissolved. But on October 3, 1990, Thuringia was brought back as a state and joined the Federal Republic of Germany. Since then, it has been one of Germany's sixteen states, called Länder.
