This article lists the people who have served as prime minister of Mauritania. The role of Prime Minister in Mauritania began in 1960. A Prime Minister is a very important leader in a country's government. They usually lead the cabinet and help the President manage the country.
Since 1960, seventeen different people have held this important job. Some people, like Mohamed Khouna Ould Haidalla and Maaouya Ould Sid'Ahmed Taya, have even served as Prime Minister more than once. The current Prime Minister of Mauritania is Mokhtar Ould Djay, who started his term on August 2, 2024.

The position of Prime Minister in Mauritania was created in 1960. This was the same year Mauritania became an independent country. The first person to hold this role was Moktar Ould Daddah. For a period between 1961 and 1979, the position of Prime Minister was not active. It was brought back in 1979.
