Llanrhystud (pronounced hlan-HRUH-stid) is a lovely seaside village in Ceredigion, Wales. It's about 9 miles (14 km) south of Aberystwyth and 7 miles (11 km) north of Aberaeron. The village gets its name from an old Welsh saint. It's also an electoral division, which is a special area used for voting. The nearby village of Llanddeiniol is part of its community.
A famous stone wall, called Cofiwch Dryweryn (which means "Remember Tryweryn"), is located just a mile north of the village on the A487 road.

The Story of Llanrhystud
Llanrhystud is named after a very early Christian saint from Wales, called Saint Rhystyd. The local church, which belongs to the Church in Wales, is dedicated to him. Saint Rhystyd was one of the missionaries who came from a place called Armorica (which is now part of France) in the 6th century.
The Village Church
The church building you see today was built in 1852. It replaced an older church, and you can still see parts of the original building. For example, an old door and a step leading down to it were found in 1958. These old parts are located at the west end, under the bell tower.
The lower part of the bell tower is thought to be very old, possibly built in the 14th century or even earlier. The first known priest in charge of the church was Griffith Powell, who started in 1544.
A Local Castle
Long ago, there was also a castle near Llanrhystud. Castles were important for protection and control in the past.

However, this railway line is no longer in use, and the tracks have been removed. The old station was actually about 7 miles (11.3 km) away, near the larger village of Llanfarian.
