Lodgepole is a small community in central Alberta, Canada. It's called a hamlet, which is a type of small settlement. You can find it about 31 kilometers (about 19 miles) west of Highway 22. It's also about 131 kilometers (about 81 miles) southwest of Edmonton, a major city in Alberta.
Lodgepole's Past
Lodgepole started as a town on July 1, 1956. By 1961, about 508 people lived there. However, the population went down to 207 by 1966. Because of this, the town was officially changed to a hamlet in 1970.
On October 17, 1982, an important event happened near Lodgepole. A gas well, being drilled about 20 kilometers (12 miles) west of the hamlet, had a blowout. This means gas escaped from the well. The well was burning, but a special company from Texas, Boots & Coots, was able to cap it. They stopped the flow of gas after 67 days.

In the 2016 Census, Lodgepole had 116 people. They lived in 53 homes. This number was a bit lower than in 2011, when 125 people lived there. The land area was about 1.75 square kilometers (0.68 square miles).
