Logan Staats is a talented Canadian singer, songwriter, and musician. He became very well known in 2018 and 2019 after winning the first season of a TV show called The Launch on CTV. His song, "The Lucky Ones," became a huge hit, reaching number one on the Canadian iTunes chart right after it came out. Logan also appeared in a 2017 Canadian documentary called When They Awake, which celebrated Indigenous artists and their communities.

Early Life and Music Beginnings

Logan Staats is Mohawk. He was born on the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory and grew up in Brantford, Ontario, a town nearby. He started writing and performing music when he was a teenager, playing the guitar and harmonica. From a young age, Logan was a big fan of and inspired by the famous artist Buffy Sainte-Marie. He played many live shows in local places across Turtle Island (a name for North America used by some Indigenous peoples). He has even performed on stage with artists like Buffy Sainte-Marie, Keith Secola, and Mumford & Sons.

Logan's Music Journey

Early Career: 2015-2017

Logan Staats appeared in episodes of two TV shows: Guilt Free Zone in 2015 and Urban Native Girl in 2016. He was also a musical performer on Urban Native Girl.

Before his solo success, he performed with a band called Ghost Town Orchestra. This band won an award for "Best Rock Album" at the 2014 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards.

Logan released his first full album, called Goodbye Goldia, on June 21, 2015.

When They Awake Documentary

In 2017, Logan Staats was part of a Canadian documentary film called When They Awake. This film was made to show off the amazing musical talent of Indigenous artists and to highlight Indigenous communities across Canada. Logan appeared in the documentary alongside other Indigenous artists like Wab Kinew, JB the First Lady, and various drummers and dancers. He was filmed in his hometown of Brantford, Ontario.

Logan traveled with the film's team to different screenings across Canada, including Toronto and Calgary. He performed at the Calgary International Film Festival with other artists such as IsKwé and DJ Shub.

Winning The Launch: 2018

In September 2017, Logan Staats was chosen from 10,000 people to compete on the first season of a Canadian TV music show called The Launch. He appeared on the very first episode in January 2018. On the show, unsigned musicians competed to have their version of a song released nationwide. Logan worked with famous music industry people like Scott Borchetta, artist Shania Twain, and producer Busbee. Logan was chosen as the winner of his episode, and his version of the song "The Lucky Ones" was released on January 11, 2018.

New Music: 2019-Present

Logan Staats released a new song called "Fear Of The Flame" on March 15, 2019. He is currently working on a new album in Nashville.

Helping Indigenous Youth

After winning on The Launch, Logan Staats started visiting public schools in the Durham Region. He met with Indigenous students there. He talks about how important it is for young Indigenous students to see someone from their background doing well in the music world. He wants to be a role model for them.

On December 4, 2017, Logan visited the Education Centre in Whitby, Ontario. He led a music workshop with Indigenous youth and their friends from six different high schools. He shared his story, performed for the students, and answered their questions about his life and music career.
