Charles Lorenzo Bundy (born November 6, 1959) is an American baseball coach and former player. He is currently the manager for the Diablos Rojos del México team in the Mexican League. Lorenzo Bundy has also worked as a coach for several Major League Baseball (MLB) teams, including the Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Miami Marlins.

Playing Baseball
Lorenzo Bundy was a talented baseball player. He went to James Madison University, where he was a great first baseman. He hit many home runs, ranking second in his school's history.
Drafted by the Orioles
In 1977, the Baltimore Orioles picked Bundy in the baseball draft. However, he decided not to sign with them at that time.
Minor League Years
After college, Bundy signed with the Texas Rangers. He also played for teams in the Pittsburgh Pirates and Montreal Expos systems. He spent eight seasons playing in the minor leagues and the Mexican League. During his playing career, he had a strong batting average of .318. He also hit 135 home runs and had 535 RBI.
Coaching Baseball
After his playing career ended in 1989, Lorenzo Bundy became a baseball manager and coach. He has managed many different teams and helped players improve their skills.
Early Coaching Roles
Bundy started managing in the Montreal Expos farm system. He led the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Expos in 1990. He then managed teams like the Sumter Flyers and Albany Polecats in the South Atlantic League. From 1993 to 1994, he managed the Burlington Bees in the Midwest League.
Working with the Florida Marlins
In 1995, Bundy joined the Florida Marlins organization. He became the hitting coach for the Brevard County Manatees. He was promoted to manager of the Manatees in 1997. The next year, the Marlins made him the minor league outfield and baserunning coach for all their farm teams.
First MLB Coaching Job
In 1999, Lorenzo Bundy got his first job on a Major League Baseball staff. He became the bullpen coach for the Colorado Rockies under manager Jim Leyland. After Leyland left, Bundy returned to coaching minor league outfielders and baserunners for the Rockies from 2000 to 2001.
Hitting Coach Success
Bundy continued to work as a hitting coach. In 2002, he coached for the Pawtucket Red Sox. In 2003, he coached for the El Paso Diablos, where the team had the best batting average in their league.
Arizona Diamondbacks and Championships
In 2004, Bundy joined the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. He was the hitting coach for the Tucson Sidewinders until 2006. In 2006, the Sidewinders led their league in batting average and runs scored. They also won the Pacific Coast League and Triple-A championships. Bundy also briefly served as an interim coach for the Diamondbacks' main team in 2004.
Managing in the Dodgers System
From 2007 to 2008, Bundy managed the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. He returned to the Diamondbacks in 2009 as a first base coach. After that, he came back to the Dodgers system. He managed the rookie-level Arizona League Dodgers in 2010. From 2011 to 2013, he managed the Albuquerque Isotopes and was named Manager of the Year in 2012.
Dodgers Major League Coach
On November 11, 2013, Bundy became the third base coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He later became an outfield coach for the team in 2015.
Mexican Pacific League Success
Lorenzo Bundy has also managed teams in the Mexican Pacific League for many years. He has won three championships with different teams:
- Navojoa (1999–2000 season)
- Hermosillo (2006–2007 season)
- Mazatlán (2008–2009 season)
He has also been named Manager of the Year twice in this league.
Miami Marlins and Recent Roles
In December 2015, Bundy became the outfield and baserunning coach for the Miami Marlins. He stayed with them until the end of the 2017 season.
Since then, Bundy has managed several teams in the Mexican League and the Mexican Pacific League. He managed the Pericos de Puebla in 2018 and the Tomateros de Culiacan later that year. In 2019, he managed the Generales de Durango and later became a bench coach for the Acereros de Monclova. He also returned to manage the Mayos de Navojoa.
In 2020 and 2021, Bundy managed the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, a Double-A team for the New York Mets. In 2022, he managed the Winston-Salem Dash, a High-A team for the Chicago White Sox. In 2023, he became the manager of the Birmingham Barons, Chicago's Double-A team.
As of November 2023, Lorenzo Bundy is the manager for the Diablos Rojos del México in the Mexican League.
