Lower Moyamensing is a lively neighborhood in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is located just south of the East Passyunk Crossing area. The neighborhood is north of the city's big stadium complex.
Lower Moyamensing is bordered by Snyder Avenue to the north and Oregon Avenue to the south. South 7th Street is its eastern border, and South Broad Street is its western border. This area was once part of Moyamensing Township. It became part of Philadelphia in 1854.
The neighborhood is famous for its old 19th-century row homes. You can also find interesting factory buildings and many different restaurants here. South Philadelphia High School is an important landmark. It is located in Lower Moyamensing at Broad and Jackson Streets.

People and Population
Lower Moyamensing is home to many people. The 2020 Census showed that over 16,000 people live here.
The population is very diverse. About 54% of residents are White, and 25% are Asian. Around 5% are Black, and almost 5% are of mixed race. About 11% of the people have Hispanic heritage.
Most people (nearly 74%) were born in the United States. Of those born outside the U.S., most (about 58%) came from Asia. The average household income in Lower Moyamensing is about $63,497.

Getting Around
It is easy to get around Lower Moyamensing. The neighborhood has good public transportation.
The SEPTA Broad Street Line subway serves the area. You can catch the subway at Snyder station on the northern side. There is also Oregon Station on the southern side. Many bus lines also run through the neighborhood.
Broad Street is a main road that runs north and south. Snyder Avenue and Oregon Avenue are important roads that run east and west.
Local Hospital
Lower Moyamensing has a hospital nearby. Methodist Hospital is part of the Jefferson University hospital network. It is located at Broad and Wolf Streets.

- In the classic 1976 film Rocky, a scene was filmed at a deli. This deli is now a private home at South 12th and Cantrell Streets. Another scene was filmed on the 1100 Block of Jackson.
- The 2019 movie Glass, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, has a scene filmed at Snyder Station. This is on the Broad Street Line.
- The 2006 film 10th & Wolf is set in Lower Moyamensing. However, it was actually filmed in Pittsburgh.
