What is Lumbini Province?
Lumbini used to be divided into six smaller areas called districts. But things changed in 2015. Now, most of these districts are part of a new, bigger area called Lumbini Province. One part of a district, Nawalparasi, was split. Its eastern half joined Gandaki Province, and the western half became part of Lumbini Province.
Here are the districts that were part of Lumbini Zone:
- Arghakhanchi (a hilly area)
- Gulmi (another hilly area)
- Kapilvastu (a flat area called Terai)
- Palpa (a hilly area)
- Rupandehi (a flat area called Terai)
- Nawalparasi (a flat area, now split between two provinces)
