The 2015 Tornado
On December 23, 2015, a very strong tornado hit Lutts. It was an EF-3 tornado, which means it caused a lot of damage. More than 20 buildings in the community were destroyed.
This included the Lutts United Methodist Church and the United States Post Office. After the tornado, postal services had to move temporarily to a nearby town called Collinwood, Tennessee. The Methodist Church also found a temporary home at the fire hall.
