Luzein is a small village in Switzerland. It is located in the Prättigau valley and is part of the Graubünden canton. Luzein is known for its beautiful natural surroundings.

History of Luzein

Luzein was first written about in the year 1185. Back then, its name was spelled Luzene.

Luzein covers an area of about 31.6 square kilometers (12.2 square miles). A large part of this land, about 41.8%, is used for farming. Forests cover almost half of the area, at 46.6%. Only a small portion, 3%, has buildings or roads. The rest of the land, about 8.6%, is made up of rivers, glaciers, or mountains.

The municipality of Luzein is located on the right side of the Prättigau valley. It includes the main village of Luzein and other smaller areas. These areas are called Buchen, Pany, and Putz.

The coat of arms for Luzein has a special design. It shows a golden arrow and a blue wing on a divided shield. The wing comes from the old noble family of Matsch. The arrow represents the Sprecher family, who were important in Luzein.
