Lynn Terence Greer Jr. (born October 23, 1979) is an American who used to play professional basketball. He was a talented player, often playing as a point guard or shooting guard. In 2004, he was even chosen for the All-EuroLeague Second Team, which means he was one of the best players in Europe!

Early Life and High School Basketball

Lynn Greer grew up in Southwest Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He played basketball at Carver High School. He played against many future NBA stars like Kobe Bryant and Rasheed Wallace.

College Basketball Career

After high school, Lynn went to Temple University. He played college basketball for the Temple Owls under coach John Chaney.

In his final year, Lynn played almost every minute of every game. He led his team by scoring 23.2 points per game. He once scored an amazing 47 points in a single game! In 2001, he helped the Owls reach the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament. This is where only eight teams are left in the competition. Lynn Greer is the second-highest scorer in Temple University's basketball history.

Professional Basketball Journey

Before joining the NBA, Lynn Greer played basketball in many different countries. He played in Italy, Russia, Poland, and Greece. He also played for the Greenville Groove in the NBA D-League (now called the G-League).

In July 2006, the NBA team Milwaukee Bucks signed him to a contract. He had played with them before in 2003 during the pre-season.

Time in the NBA

Lynn Greer played in the NBA only during the 2006-2007 season with the Milwaukee Bucks. He played in 41 games. On average, he scored 4.1 points and made 1.3 assists per game. His last NBA game was on April 18, 2007.

Playing in Europe

After his time in the NBA, Lynn Greer returned to play in Europe.

  • On September 24, 2007, he joined Olympiacos Piraeus in Greece. He played very well there, scoring many points and making assists.
  • In 2009, he moved to Fenerbahçe Ülker in Turkey.
  • In 2011, he played for Armani Jeans Milano in Italy.
  • Later in 2011, he signed with UNICS Kazan in Russia.
  • In 2012, he joined BC Azovmash in Ukraine.
  • From 2013 to 2015, he played for Darüşşafaka in Turkey.

On June 25, 2015, Lynn Greer announced that he was retiring from playing professional basketball.

Family Life

Lynn Greer's father, Lynn Greer Sr., was also a basketball player. He was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in 1973. Lynn's mother is Alma Greer.

Lynn Greer has a son named Lynn Greer III. His son also plays basketball! Lynn Greer III played at IMG Academy in Florida. He first decided to play college basketball for the Dayton Flyers. Later, in January 2022, he transferred to Saint Joseph's.
