Mézières is a small town, also called a municipality, in Switzerland. It is located in the canton of Fribourg, within the Glâne district.

History of Mézières

Mézières was first mentioned in old records in the year 1179. Back then, it was known as de Maseriis.

On January 1, 2004, a nearby town called Berlens joined with Mézières. This made Mézières a bit bigger.

Geography of Mézières

Mézières covers an area of about 9.19 square kilometers (3.55 square miles). A large part of this land, about 79.5%, is used for farming. This means there are many fields and pastures.

About 13.8% of the area is covered by forests. The rest of the land, about 6.8%, has buildings and roads. There are also small rivers or lakes, making up about 0.1% of the area.

The town is located along the main road that connects Romont and Bulle.
