Mühlehorn was once a small town, also known as a municipality, in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland. Since January 1, 2011, Mühlehorn has become part of a larger municipality called Glarus Nord.

History of Mühlehorn
Mühlehorn was first mentioned in old records in the year 1551. Back then, it was known as Mülihorn.
Geography of Mühlehorn
Mühlehorn covers an area of about 7.8 square kilometers (3 square miles). A big part of this land, about 52.4%, is covered by forests. About 33.8% of the land is used for farming. Only a small part, 3.9%, has buildings or roads. The rest of the land, about 9.9%, includes rivers, glaciers, or mountains.
Mühlehorn is located right on the southern shore of a lake called Walensee. The area includes the main village of Mühlehorn and smaller villages, known as hamlets, called Vortobel, Tiefenwinkel, and Mühletal. These smaller areas are found near the north-east border of the canton.
People and Population
In 2010, Mühlehorn had a population of 416 people. About 13.4% of the people living there in 2007 were from other countries. Over the past ten years, the number of people living in Mühlehorn has gone down by about 13.2%.
Most people in Mühlehorn speak German, about 88.9% of the population. The second most common language is Serbo-Croatian, spoken by 7.9% of the people. Italian is the third most common language, spoken by 1.1%.
In 2007, during the Swiss federal election, the most popular political party was the SPS, which got 54% of the votes. The SVP received 31% of the votes.
Many adults in Mühlehorn, about 67.3% of those aged 25-64, have finished high school or gone on to higher education, like a university or a special college called a Fachhochschule.

Transportation
The town is located right next to the A3 motorway, which is a major highway.
Mühlehorn also has its own railway station. It is on the train line that goes from Ziegelbrücke to Sargans. The S17 regional train, part of the St. Gallen S-Bahn system, stops here.
