The Madidi titi monkey is a small, furry animal found in the forests of Bolivia. It's also called the GoldenPalace.com monkey or the golden palace monkey. This special monkey was discovered in 2004 in Madidi National Park. It's a type of New World monkey known as a titi.
Its scientific name is Plecturocebus aureipalatii. The second part of its name, aureipalatii, means "of the Golden Palace". This is because an online company called GoldenPalace.com paid money to help protect the park where the monkey lives. In return, the monkey was named after them.

Where Madidi Titis Live
This monkey was first found in the low-lying forests of northwestern Bolivia. These forests are at the bottom of the Andes mountains. Studies show that these monkeys live on the western side of the Beni River.
Scientists are still learning how far their home range extends. It's possible they also live in southern Peru, near the Tambopata River.
What Madidi Titis Look Like
The Madidi titi monkey has soft, orange-brown fur. It has a special golden crown on its head, which makes it easy to spot. Its tail has a white tip, and its hands and feet are dark red.
Like other titi monkeys, the Madidi titi is monogamous. This means a male and female pair stay together for their whole lives. They protect their home area from other monkey pairs by making loud calls. The male titi usually carries the baby monkeys until they are old enough to take care of themselves.
How the Madidi Titi Was Discovered
British biologist Robert Wallace and Bolivian biologist Humberto Gómez first saw this monkey in 2000. They were studying animals in Madidi National Park. After years of research, it was officially named a new species in 2006. This was the first new primate species found in Bolivia in 60 years!
A team of researchers, including Annika M. Felton, Adam Felton, and Ernesto Cáceres, were the first to film and record this monkey. Instead of choosing a name themselves, the scientists decided to do something unique. They held an auction for the naming rights. This was to raise money for FUNDESNAP, a group that helps manage Madidi National Park.
GoldenPalace.com, an online company, was one of many bidders. They paid a large sum of money to have the monkey named after them. This money helped support the important work of protecting the park.
