Madison is a small city located in Greenwood County, Kansas, in the United States. It sits right next to the Verdigris River. In 2020, about 689 people lived there.

History of Madison
Madison was first started in 1872, a little to the northwest of where it is today. In 1879, the town moved to its current spot. This happened when the Howard Branch of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad was built.
The very first building in the new location was the home of W. H. Green. He was a veteran from the Civil War. Green came to Kansas in 1867 and set up a trading post. The city of Madison got its name from Madison Township.

Sports Achievements
The Madison Bulldogs, which is the local high school team, have won state championships. They won the Kansas State High School boys' class 1A basketball championship in 1976. They also won the 1A football championship in 1984.
