Madison is a small town located in Madison County, New York, in the United States. In 2020, about 2,766 people lived there.
The Town of Madison includes a smaller area called the village of Madison. The town is located near the eastern edge of Madison County.

History of Madison
People first started settling in the area around 1794. The town of Madison was officially created in 1807. It was formed from a part of the nearby Town of Hamilton.
Madison is also known for the Madison Wind Farm, which was built in 2000. This wind farm uses wind turbines to create electricity. A famous person named Darwin D. Martin, who was an important executive at the Larkin Company, was born in Bouckville, a hamlet in Madison, in 1865.
Geography of Madison
The northern and eastern borders of Madison are next to Oneida County. A major road, US Route 20, goes right through the town.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town covers a total area of about 41.4 square miles (107.2 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 40.9 square miles (105.9 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 0.5 square miles (1.3 square kilometers), is water.
U.S. Route 20 and New York State Route 12B join together to form a main highway that crosses the town from east to west.

Places in the Town of Madison
- Bouckville – This is a small community, also called a hamlet, located near the western edge of the town on Route 20. Two important historical places, the Chenango Canal Summit Level and the Coolidge Stores Building, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
- Durfee Corners – You can find this spot in the southeastern part of the town.
- Lake Moraine – This is a lake located just south of Madison village.
- Madison – This is the main Village of Madison, found right on Route 20.
- Madison Center – Another hamlet located southeast of Madison village.
- Sigby Corners – A hamlet in the southern part of the town.
- Solsville – This hamlet is north of Madison village. It's also known for local stories about the "Madison Sasquatch"!
Notable People from Madison
- Thomas Bones (1842–1929) – He was a land developer who helped build up this area.
- Louise C. Purington (1844-1916) – She was a doctor and an activist who worked to promote temperance.
