Mahmoud Abdel Moneim Abdel Hamid Soliman (born April 13, 1994), known as Mahmoud Kahraba or simply Kahraba, is an Egyptian professional footballer. He plays as a winger for Al-Ittihad and the Egypt national team.

Kahraba started his career as a young player at Al Ahly. He made his first professional appearance in the Egyptian Premier League with ENPPI in 2011. He later played for Swiss clubs FC Luzern and Grasshopper Club Zürich on loan.

After returning to Egypt, he joined Zamalek and helped them win the Egypt Cup. He also played for Saudi Professional League team Al-Ittihad on loan, where he won the Saudi Crown Prince Cup and the Kings Cup.

Kahraba has played for Egypt at different youth levels. He won the 2013 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations with the under-20 team. He made his debut for the senior national team in 2013. He was part of Egypt's teams for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Football Journey

Early Career and Nickname

Kahraba began his football journey as a youth player at Al Ahly. When he was fifteen, he scored 36 goals in 20 games. This was a great start to his career.

During his time at Al Ahly, a youth coach named Badr Ragab gave him the nickname "Kahraba." This means "Electricity" in Arabic. He got this name because of his amazing energy and speed on the field.

In 2011, Kahraba joined ENPPI. He made his professional debut in the Egyptian Premier League on December 18, 2011. He scored his first senior goal the next season. He even had a chance to try out for English club Hull City, but he could not get a work permit.

Playing in Switzerland

In August 2013, Kahraba moved to FC Luzern in Switzerland on a loan deal. He played his first game a week later. On October 5, 2013, he scored his first goal for Luzern and was named man of the match. He scored six more goals, becoming one of their top scorers.

However, his loan ended early in March 2014. The club said it was because of "inappropriate behaviour." Kahraba's agent said the player left because the club tried to pressure him into a new contract.

After leaving Luzern, Kahraba joined another Swiss team, Grasshopper Club Zürich, on loan in May 2014. He played his first game for them in a match against FC Zürich. He scored his first goal for Grasshoppers in a 2–1 win against FC Aarau. He also played in the UEFA Champions League qualifying matches. Kahraba returned to ENPPI in November, as he wanted more playing time.

Back to Egypt

After his time in Switzerland, Kahraba returned to ENPPI. He scored four goals in his first twelve games. He later joined Zamalek on a five-year contract.

In his first six months with Zamalek, Kahraba helped the team win the Egyptian Premier League and the Egypt Cup. He scored eight goals in fourteen games. His great play led to him being nominated for the 2015 African Most Promising Talent Award.

Time with Al-Ittihad

In July 2016, Kahraba joined Saudi Arabian team Al-Ittihad on a loan deal. He scored in his first game for the club. In his third game, he became the first Egyptian player to score four goals in a single Saudi Professional League match. He also scored the fastest goal of the season.

Kahraba's strong performances led Al-Ittihad to extend his loan for another season. He scored the winning goal in the final of the 2016–17 Saudi Crown Prince Cup. He finished the 2016–17 season as Al-Ittihad's top goalscorer.

In April 2017, he was made captain for a match. He scored once, helping his team win 4–2. Al-Ittihad played a friendly match against Spanish side Atlético Madrid to celebrate their 90th anniversary. Kahraba scored in this game and received praise from Atlético's manager.

During his second season, Kahraba faced challenges due to a back injury. At the end of the 2017–18 season, Al-Ittihad decided not to sign him permanently.

Moving to Portugal and Back to Al Ahly

On July 25, 2019, Kahraba signed a two-year deal with Portuguese team Aves. He played five games and scored one goal for the club.

On December 13, 2019, Kahraba returned to his boyhood club, Al Ahly, signing a four-and-a-half-year deal. He has continued to play for Al Ahly, winning many titles with them. In 2022, he also had a short loan spell with Hatayspor in Turkey. As of 2025, he is on loan at Al-Ittihad.

International Career

Youth Teams

Kahraba was a key player for the Egypt under-20 team. In March 2013, they won the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations for the first time in ten years. Kahraba helped his team win by earning a penalty and scoring in the penalty shootout. He was also named in the team of the tournament and was one of the top scorers.

Two months later, he played in the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey. He scored Egypt's goal in their opening match against Chile. He played in all of Egypt's group matches.

Senior National Team

Kahraba made his debut for the Egypt senior side on September 10, 2013. He scored his first goal for the senior team on September 6, 2015.

He was part of the squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. On January 27, 2017, he scored the winning goal in the quarterfinal against Morocco. Egypt reached the final but lost to Cameroon.

In May 2018, he was chosen for Egypt's team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He came on as a substitute in all three of Egypt's group matches.
