Mahmoud Abdel Moneim Abdel Hamid Soliman (born April 13, 1994), known as Mahmoud Kahraba or simply Kahraba, is an Egyptian professional footballer. He plays as a winger for Egyptian Premier League club Al Ahly and the Egypt national team.

Kahraba started his football journey as a young player with Al Ahly. He made his first professional appearance in the Egyptian Premier League with ENPPI in 2011. He later played on loan for Swiss clubs FC Luzern and Grasshopper.

After returning to Egypt, he joined Zamalek and helped them win the Egypt Cup. He also played on loan for Saudi Professional League club Al-Ittihad, where he won the Saudi Crown Prince Cup and the Kings Cup. Kahraba has represented Egypt at different youth levels, winning the 2013 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations. He made his debut for the senior national team in 2013 and played in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Kahraba's Football Journey

Early Days and Youth Career

Kahraba began his football career at Al Ahly as a youth player. When he was fifteen, he scored an amazing 36 goals in 20 games. During his time at Al Ahly, his youth coach Badr Ragab gave him the nickname "Kahraba," which means "Electricity." This was because of his incredible energy and speed on the field.

In 2011, after the youth team closed, he moved to ENPPI. He played his first professional game in the Egyptian Premier League on December 18, 2011. The next season, he scored his first goal as a senior player. He even had a chance to try out for the English club Hull City, but he couldn't get a work permit to play there.

Playing in Switzerland: FC Luzern

In August 2013, Kahraba moved to FC Luzern in Switzerland on a loan deal. He played his first game for the club a week later. On October 5, 2013, he started his first game for Luzern and scored a goal, helping his team win. He quickly became an important player, scoring six more goals and becoming the team's second-highest scorer that season.

However, in March 2014, his loan deal was ended early by the club. Luzern stated it was due to "inappropriate behavior" towards the coach and other club officials. Kahraba's agent, however, said that Kahraba chose to leave because the club was pressuring him to sign a new contract.

Playing in Switzerland: Grasshopper

After leaving Luzern, Kahraba joined another Swiss team, Grasshopper, on a six-month loan in May 2014. He started training early and made his debut for the club as a substitute. In his second game, he was sent off with a red card, which made him very upset.

Despite this, Kahraba played in the UEFA Champions League qualifying matches. He scored his first goal for Grasshopper in a 2–1 win. Even though his loan was supposed to last longer, Kahraba returned to ENPPI in November. He said he wanted more playing time, as he was only 20 years old and wanted to be on the field more often.

Back in Egypt: Zamalek and Al-Ittihad

After his time in Switzerland, Kahraba returned to ENPPI. He played well, scoring four goals in his first twelve games. Soon after, he signed a five-year contract with Zamalek, another big club in the Egyptian Premier League.

In his first six months with Zamalek, Kahraba helped the team win the Egyptian Premier League and the Egypt Cup. He scored eight goals in fourteen games. His great performances led to him being nominated for the 2015 African Most Promising Talent Award.

In July 2016, Kahraba joined Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad on a two-year loan. He made an instant impact, scoring in his first game. In his third game for Al-Ittihad, he scored four goals, becoming the first Egyptian player to score a hat-trick in the Saudi Professional League. He also scored the fastest goal of the season in another game.

Kahraba's excellent play made Al-Ittihad want to keep him longer. He scored fifteen goals in twenty games, including the winning goal in the final of the 2016–17 Saudi Crown Prince Cup. His loan was extended for another season. He even captained the team in one match. Kahraba finished the 2016–17 season as Al-Ittihad's top scorer with eighteen goals.

During his second season with Al-Ittihad, Kahraba faced challenges due to a back injury. At the end of the 2017–18 season, Al-Ittihad decided not to sign him permanently.

Moving to Portugal and Back to Al Ahly

On July 25, 2019, Kahraba signed a two-year deal with Aves, a team in Portugal. However, he soon returned to Egypt.

On December 13, 2019, Kahraba signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Al Ahly, which was the club he played for as a youth. This was a big return to his first club.

International Career

Playing for Egypt's Youth Teams

Kahraba was a key player for the Egypt under-20 side. In March 2013, he helped them win the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations for the first time in ten years. He won a penalty for Egypt's goal and scored in the penalty shootout during the final. He was also named in the team of the tournament and was one of the top scorers with three goals.

Two months later, he was chosen for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey. He scored Egypt's goal in their first group match against Chile. He played in all of Egypt's group matches, but they were eliminated in the group stage.

Playing for Egypt's Senior Team

Kahraba made his debut for the Egypt senior team on September 10, 2013. He scored his first goal for the senior team on September 6, 2015, in a 5–1 victory over Chad.

He was part of the squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. On January 27, 2017, he scored the winning goal in the quarterfinal against Morocco. Egypt reached the final but lost to Cameroon. Kahraba was also chosen for Egypt's squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He came on as a substitute in all three of Egypt's group matches, but the team was eliminated.
