The Chad national football team, also known as Les Sao, represents the country of Chad in international football games. The team is managed by the Chadian Football Federation. Their home games are played at the Idriss Mahamat Ouya Stadium. Les Sao have never played in the World Cup or the Africa Cup of Nations finals. In April 2021, FIFA stopped Chad from playing in global football. This was because the Chadian government got involved with the country's football federation.

History of Chad's Football Team
The Chadian Football Federation was started in 1962. It joined FIFA and the CAF in 1988. Chad's national team did not play many international matches until the 1990s. Before that, they mostly played friendly games with other African teams.
Early Matches and Challenges
The team's first game was in 1963 in Senegal. They lost 2–1 to Liberia. Soon after, they had a big loss of 6–2 against Dahomey (now Benin).
World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers
Chad has never made it to the main tournaments for the World Cup or the Africa Cup of Nations. Their first try for the World Cup was in 2000. They were knocked out in the first round by Liberia. In 2003, they won their first home game in a World Cup qualifier, beating Angola 3–1. However, they lost the away game and did not move forward.
For the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, Chad played in a group. They finished last in their group, winning two games and losing four. In the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, Chad played Tanzania. Chad won an away game 1–0, which was a surprise. But Tanzania moved on because they scored more goals away from home.
In the qualifiers for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, Chad won their first game against Malawi 3–2. But they lost the second game and were eliminated. Malawi was also their opponent in the 2015 qualifiers. Chad won at home but lost overall due to the away goals rule.
Winning the CEMAC Cup
The biggest success for Les Sao was winning the CEMAC Cup in 2014. They beat Congo 3–2 in the final. This was a great achievement for the team. Before this, their best result was second place in the 2005 tournament.
Recent Challenges and FIFA Ban
In the qualifiers for the 2017 tournament, Chad had a tough start. They lost to Nigeria and Egypt. However, they had an unexpected win against Sierra Leone in the World Cup qualifiers. They won 1–0 at home and moved to the next round on away goals. Chad then beat Egypt 1–0 at home, but lost the return game 4–0.
In March 2016, the Chadian Football Federation said they were pulling out of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. This was due to money problems. Because of this, they were not allowed to enter the next tournament. This meant they did not play any official games for over three years.
In March 2021, the Chadian government made a decision about the Chadian Football Federation. This led to FIFA banning Chad from global football in April 2021. This ban meant Chad could not play in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
Team Kits and Colors
Chad's football team has used different kit providers over the years. These include well-known brands like Adidas and Puma.
When Chad first became independent, their team wore blue shirts, blue shorts, and red socks. These colors are similar to the French flag. In the 1970s, their home colors changed to blue, yellow, and red. Their first away kit in 1960 was a white shirt, red shorts, and white socks. Later, in 1980, the away kit changed to a red shirt, blue shorts, and yellow socks.
Who Coaches the Team?
Many coaches have led the Chad national football team over the years. They come from different countries, including Chad, France, and Cameroon.
Current Coaching Staff
The team has a head coach and a team of assistants. They also have coaches for goalkeepers, fitness, and a doctor.
