Antoine Selorm Semenyo, born on January 7, 2000, is a talented professional footballer. He plays as a winger or wide midfielder for the famous Manchester City club. Even though he was born in England, Antoine proudly represents the Ghana national team.

Antoine Semenyo's Football Journey
Starting His Career in Football
Antoine Semenyo faced some challenges early in his football journey. He tried out for big London clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur but wasn't chosen. At 15, Crystal Palace also turned him down after an eight-week trial.
Antoine almost gave up on his dream. However, a coach named Dave Hockaday encouraged him to join a youth academy program. This helped Antoine improve his skills greatly. Soon, clubs like Birmingham City and Bristol City became interested in him. Before joining Bristol City's youth team in September 2017, he even played a short time for a smaller club called Highworth Town.
Playing for Bristol City
Early Matches and Loan Spells
Antoine signed his first professional contract in January 2018. He then went on a short loan to Bath City, where he scored six goals in 16 games. He made his first appearance for Bristol City at the end of the 2017–18 season.
In July 2018, Antoine joined Newport County on loan for a season. He scored his first goal for them in an EFL Cup match. At Newport, he started playing more as a winger instead of a striker. He helped Newport County achieve a big win, knocking Premier League club Leicester City out of the FA Cup in January 2019. After playing 32 games for Newport, Bristol City called him back.
When he returned to Bristol City, he started playing more often. He signed a new four-year contract with the club in June 2019. Later, in January 2020, he went on loan to Sunderland for the rest of the season. He played seven games for Sunderland before returning to Bristol City when the season ended early due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Becoming a Key Player at Bristol City
The 2020–21 season was a big one for Antoine. He scored his first goal for Bristol City in an EFL Cup match in September 2020. He also provided many assists for his teammates. By the end of the season, he had played 50 games, scoring five goals and setting up seven others. He was recognized as Bristol City's Young Player of the Year in May 2021.
During the 2021–22 season, Antoine continued to shine. He scored eight goals and made twelve assists in 32 games. He even won the EFL Championship Player of the Month award in January 2022 for his excellent performance.
He started the 2022–23 season strongly, scoring in his first few matches. His great form in January 2023, where he scored in three league games and an FA Cup tie, attracted attention from bigger clubs.
Moving to Bournemouth
On January 27, 2023, Antoine Semenyo joined Bournemouth in a big transfer deal. He made his debut in the Premier League in February and scored his first goal for the club in April 2023.
In the 2023–24 season, Antoine scored an important goal against Liverpool at Anfield. He also helped Bournemouth get their first league win of the season against Burnley. He finished his first full Premier League season with eight goals and two assists in 33 games.
Antoine signed a new contract with Bournemouth in July 2024. He continued his strong performance in the 2024–25 season. He scored an equalizer against Nottingham Forest and helped Bournemouth win against Everton. A notable moment was when he scored in Bournemouth's 2–1 win over Manchester City in November 2024, ending City's long unbeaten run. He also scored against Manchester United at Old Trafford. He ended the 2024–25 Premier League season with a personal best of eleven goals.
He signed another contract extension with Bournemouth in July 2025. He started the 2025–26 season with two goals against Liverpool in the opening match. He continued to score regularly, including two goals and an assist against Fulham in October. After a short period without scoring, he found the net again in December against Manchester United, Burnley, and Brentford.
On January 7, 2026, Antoine scored a last-minute winning goal against Tottenham Hotspur in his final game for Bournemouth. This goal ended Bournemouth's eleven-match winless streak.
Joining Manchester City
On January 9, 2026, Manchester City announced that they had signed Antoine Semenyo. He joined on a five-and-a-half-year contract. He made an instant impact on his debut, scoring and assisting in a huge 10–1 FA Cup win against Exeter City. Just three days later, he scored in an EFL Cup semi-final match against Newcastle United.
Antoine scored his first Premier League goal for Manchester City in a 2–0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on January 24. His excellent performances in February earned him the Premier League Player of the Month award. On March 22, he helped Manchester City win the EFL Cup final against Arsenal, securing his first trophy with the club.
On May 16, 2026, Antoine scored the winning goal in the 2026 FA Cup final against Chelsea. His amazing backheel finish sealed a 1–0 victory, bringing another trophy to Manchester City.
Playing for Ghana
Antoine Semenyo was born in England but has family roots in Ghana. He chose to play for the Ghana national team, also known as the Black Stars.
He first joined the Ghana team in May 2022. His debut match was a 3–0 win against Madagascar in June 2022.
In November 2022, Antoine was selected for Ghana's squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He scored his first goal for Ghana in a friendly match against Switzerland just before the World Cup. During the tournament, he played in two group matches.
Antoine scored his first goal in a competitive match for Ghana in March 2023. It was a late winning goal against Angola in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. He also played in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in January 2024, starting in all three group games.
Antoine's Life Off the Field
Antoine comes from a football-loving family. His father, Larry, was also a footballer in Ghana. Antoine's younger brother, Jai, is also a professional footballer. Antoine also has French citizenship through his mother.
