Nicomaine Dei Capili Mendoza-Atayde (born March 3, 1995) is a Filipina actress and television host. She is also a talented comedian and recording artist. Many people know her for her super popular viral Dubsmash videos. She also became famous for her role as Yaya Dub in the TV show Eat Bulaga!.
Her journey to fame was quite special. It happened when she was unexpectedly paired with Alden Richards on Eat Bulaga! in 2015. Their team-up was called AlDub, a mix of their names. Beyond Eat Bulaga!, Maine has starred in movies like My Bebe Love: #KiligPaMore. She even won an award for Best Supporting Actress for this film. She also wrote and sang the theme song for her movie Imagine You & Me. Maine loves to write and even released her own book called Yup, I Am That Girl.

Early life
Maine Mendoza was born Nicomaine Dei Capili Mendoza on March 3, 1995. Her hometown is Santa Maria, Bulacan, Philippines. Her parents are Mary Ann and Teodoro Mendoza. Mary Ann is an accountant who owns gas stations. Teodoro is an engineer who works on road construction. Maine has two brothers and two sisters. All of her siblings' names also start with "Nico."
She finished high school at St. Paul College of Bocaue in Bulacan. Later, she earned a college degree in culinary arts. This was from De La Salle-College of St. Benilde. She even had an internship in New York, USA.
Personal life
Maine Mendoza and Arjo Atayde got married on July 28, 2023. Their wedding was a private ceremony in Baguio City. Only their families and closest friends attended.
Career
Acting career
In early 2015, Maine Mendoza shared a Dubsmash video on Facebook. In it, she pretended to be Kris Aquino. The video quickly became super popular, getting a million views overnight! This made her known as the "Queen of Dubsmash" in the Philippines.
Soon after, she joined Eat Bulaga! as Yaya Dub. She was the personal assistant of Lola Nidora. On July 16, 2015, her character was paired with Alden Richards. This happened without a script in a part of the show called "Kalyeserye." Their pairing became very famous as AlDub. This helped Eat Bulaga! get even higher TV ratings.
In November 2015, Maine joined the TV show Princess in the Palace. She played Chef Elize. She also appeared as a guest in other TV shows. These included Vampire Ang Daddy Ko and Sunday PinaSaya.
Maine and Alden starred in the 2015 film My Bebe Love #KiligPaMore. They acted alongside famous stars Vic Sotto and Ai-Ai de las Alas. Maine played Anna Carillo, a strong-willed character. She won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in this movie.
In March 2016, Maine acted in special drama episodes of Eat Bulaga!. She played Divina/Yaya Dub in one and Dani in another. She won an award for her role as Dani. Maine and Alden also starred as lead actors in the film Imagine You & Me. Parts of this movie were filmed in Como, Italy.
In 2017, Maine and Alden had their first prime time TV series. It was called Destined to be Yours. Maine played Sinag Obispo, a radio DJ. She also appeared in Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko playing different guest roles.

Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards have appeared in many advertisements. Maine has also done many ads by herself. She has been on the cover of magazines like Meg and Preview. The cast of "Kalyeserye" was also featured in YES! magazine. Maine and Alden appeared on the covers of Reader's Digest Asia and PeopleAsia. They even received the People of the Year award from PeopleAsia in 2016.
Maine is very good at promoting products. She won an award for being the Most Valuable Female Advertising Endorser in 2016. In 2016, Maine appeared as Elsa from the Disney movie Frozen in the Disney Channel Asia calendar.

Writing career
Maine Mendoza has had a personal blog called Pessimistic Optimist Bella since 2012. In October 2017, she published her first book, Yup, I Am That Girl. It was launched on October 26, 2017. The book is an unfiltered version of her personal blog. It sold out in just four hours after a bookstore announced it was available!
Music career
Maine Mendoza wrote and sang "Imagine You and Me." This was the theme song for her 2016 movie of the same name. Vic Sotto created the music for the song. A duet version of the song was also released for the film.
In June 2018, Maine signed a music deal with Universal Records. She worked on her first album with Ito Rapadas, the lead singer of Neocolours.
Other ventures
Maine Mendoza was part of the Eat Bulaga! Tamang Panahon benefit concert. This event happened on October 24, 2015, at the Philippine Arena. It raised PHP 14 million for the AlDub Library Project. This project helps build libraries.
In April 2018, Maine started "Humans of Barangay." This project is like "Humans of New York." Maine wants to inspire people by sharing stories of those she meets in different communities.
Advocacy
Maine Mendoza supports the Lumads in Mindanao. These are people who have faced challenges in their lands. Maine believes in helping them.
She also supports same-sex marriages. She believes that "everyone has the right to love whoever they want."
Entrepreneurship
Maine Mendoza also started her own fast food business. She bought a franchise of the American restaurant chain McDonald's. She is also an endorser for McDonald's. Her restaurant officially opened on August 11, 2017. It is located in her hometown, Barangay Sta. Clara, Santa Maria, Bulacan. Her restaurant is near her family's gasoline station business.

Maine Mendoza has been featured in several TV shows. These include Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho and CelebriTV. She was also interviewed by Rico Hizon for a BBC special report. She even gave lip-syncing tips on Lip Sync Battle Philippines. Maine also appeared in videos for the 2016 Philippine general elections. She explained what to do and not to do during the elections.
In October 2016, it was shared that Maine had a small role in the film Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers.

In December 2015, Maine Mendoza received a star at the Eastwood City Walk of Fame. This is a special place in Libis, Quezon City. She also won Favorite Young Actress at the 5th OFW Gawad Parangal. In February 2016, Anak TV gave her a "Child-friendly Artist on Television" award. Maine also won several awards from Nuffnang Philippines Bloggers Awards. She was named Female TV Star of the Year and Female Breakout Star of the Year in 2016.
Maine has also been recognized for her work as a citizen. In August 2017, the Philippine Bureau of Internal Revenue recognized her. She was the top individual regional tax payer in her area. She also received an award from Gawad Lasallianeta in September 2017. In December 2017, Maine received another Anak TV award.
