Richard Reyes Faulkerson Jr. (born January 2, 1992), known as Alden Richards, is a famous Filipino actor, businessman, and TV star. He is well-known for playing lead roles in romantic and historical TV shows and movies.

Alden has won many awards, including a Seoul International Drama Award and a FAMAS Award. He has also won five Star Awards for Movies. His most popular movies include Hello, Love, Goodbye (2019) and Hello, Love, Again (2024). These films are among the highest-earning Filipino movies ever.

Besides acting, Alden also produces films, concerts, and other events. In music, his second album, Wish I May (2015), sold so well that it was certified diamond. This makes it one of the best-selling albums in the Philippines.

Starting Out: 2010–2011

Alden started his career by doing some modeling. Then, he tried out for a role in a TV show called Alakdana on GMA Network. He got the part and played a character named Joma. This was his first time acting on screen.

He used the stage name Alden Richards when he became an actor. In 2011, he joined the teen series Tween Hearts and its movie version. He also performed on Sunday variety shows like Party Pilipinas. Alden was praised for his acting in the movie The Road. Many people thought he would become a big star.

In 2011, he won the "Amazing Male Newcomer" award at the Yahoo! OMG! Philippines Awards. He also won "Best New Actor" at the Golden Screen Awards that same year.

Rising to Fame: 2012–2014

In 2012, Alden played a supporting role in the TV series My Beloved. He also starred in his first main role in the TV series One True Love. He played a poor guy named "Tisoy" who falls in love with a rich girl. Alden said this show was his biggest chance in showbiz.

He was nominated for "Best Actor" for One True Love in 2013. Later, he played a young Simeon in the historical drama Indio. Alden was proud to play this role.

In March 2013, a TV show called Magpakailanman told the story of Alden's life. He played himself in the episode. In the same year, he signed a special contract with GMA Network.

Alden also started his singing career in April 2013. His first song was "Haplos." His first album, Alden Richards, came out in May 2013. Some of his songs were used as theme songs for TV shows.

In 2014, Alden starred with Marian Rivera in the TV series Carmela. He also hosted a talent show called Bet ng Bayan. Near the end of 2014, he played the Filipino hero José Rizal in the TV series Ilustrado. For this role, he won his first "Best Actor" award.

In 2015, Alden joined the popular TV show Eat Bulaga!. On July 16, 2015, he was accidentally paired with his co-host Maine Mendoza, also known as "Yaya Dub." They quickly became a famous love team called AlDub. Because they were so popular, Eat Bulaga! created a mini-series for them called Kalyeserye.

In August 2015, Alden signed a movie contract. He also signed a music contract with GMA Records. His second album, Wish I May, was released in October 2015. The album quickly became very successful. It earned a gold record award even before it was officially launched.

By September 2015, his first album, Alden Richards, also earned a gold record award. His album Wish I May continued to sell incredibly well. It received multiple platinum awards, reaching eight times platinum by September 2016.

In December 2015, Alden and Maine starred in the movie My Bebe Love: KiligPaMore. They also received a "German Moreno Power Tandem Award." Alden got his own star on the Philippine Walk of Fame in December 2015.

In 2016, Alden and Maine starred in the movie Imagine You and Me. This was their first movie where they were the main actors. Alden also released a book called Alden Richards: In My Own Words. He continued to host Eat Bulaga! and Sunday PinaSaya.

Recent Projects: 2022 – Present

In March 2023, Alden returned to Eat Bulaga! after a break. He had been working on other projects like the TV series Start-Up PH in 2022.

Alden and Julia Montes starred in a movie called Five Breakups and a Romance. This was a special movie because it was the first time three different production companies worked together.

In June 2023, actress Sharon Cuneta shared that she and Alden would be in a movie together. The movie is called Family of Two (A Mother And Son Story). It was shown at the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival.

Alden played the lead role in a Magpakailanman episode called "Sa Puso't Isipan." This episode won an award for Best Drama Anthology in 2024. In July 2024, Alden starred in the TV series Pulang Araw, which aired on Netflix.

In November 2024, Alden reunited with Kathryn Bernardo for Hello, Love, Again. This movie is a sequel to their hit film Hello, Love, Goodbye. Hello, Love, Again became the highest-earning Filipino film of all time, making over 1 billion pesos. It was also the first movie where ABS-CBN's Star Cinema and GMA Pictures worked together.

Modeling and Endorsements

Alden Richards is not just an actor; he also does a lot of modeling. In 2010, he was listed as one of Candy Magazine's "Celebrity Cuties." He has appeared on magazine covers and in many advertisements for different brands.

Helping Others

In 2016, Alden started his first business, a restaurant called Concha's Garden in Tagaytay. It now has four branches. He also opened his own McDonald's franchise in Biñan, Laguna, in 2019.

In 2022, he started his own company called Myriad Entertainment Corporation. This company helped organize a reunion concert for the rock band Eraserheads, where Alden was a co-producer.

Personal Life

Alden shares that his grandmother, Linda Reyes, taught him about the Catholic faith. He often visits churches and watches Christian movies during Lent.
