Malcolm Hakeem Delaney (born March 11, 1989) is a former professional basketball player from Baltimore, Maryland. He played college basketball for the Virginia Tech Hokies men's basketball team. After college, Delaney played professionally overseas for several teams. These included Élan Chalon, Budivelnyk Kyiv, Bayern Munich, and Lokomotiv Kuban. In 2016, he was chosen for the All-EuroLeague First Team.

Early Life and Sports Beginnings
Malcolm Delaney was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on March 11, 1989. His mom, Patricia, was a nurse. His dad, Vincent Jr., was a talented high school basketball player who later played in college. Malcolm's older brother, Vincent, played college football.
As a kid, Malcolm was great at many sports. He led his youth football team to a national championship. He also won a home run derby in Little League Baseball. By age seven, he was already practicing basketball with an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team.
High School Basketball Journey
Delaney first attended McDonogh School in Maryland, where he played both football and basketball. He was a starter on the basketball team and helped them win important games.
Before his second year of high school, Delaney moved to Towson Catholic High School. There, he continued to play basketball and joined other talented players. In his final year, he averaged 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals per game. He also won several awards, including the Charm City Classic MVP and Baltimore Catholic League Player of the Year. He led his team to championships and scored over 2,100 points in his high school career.
Delaney was considered one of the top basketball players in the country. He received offers from several colleges before choosing Virginia Tech. He also played for AAU Team Melo and was friends with NBA star Carmelo Anthony.

Second Year Achievements
In his second year, Delaney was named to the third-team All-ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference). He scored more than 20 points in 12 games. He was one of the top players in the ACC for scoring, assists, and free throw percentage. He also won the Lou Carnesecca Award, which is given to the most valuable player of the Aeropostale Holiday Festival.

Delaney had an amazing third year, scoring a career-best 20.2 points per game. He was chosen for the first-team All-ACC by everyone. He led the ACC in scoring and helped his team reach the quarterfinals of the NIT.
