Discover the Malibu Country Mart
The Malibu Country Mart covers about 6 acres (24,000 m2) of land in the center of Malibu. It has about 90,000 square feet (8,400 m2) of shops, places to eat, and services. The buildings here have different styles, like Spanish, Mediterranean, modern, and rustic.
You can also find beautiful gardens and sculptures around the property. There are outdoor dining and picnic areas, plus a special playground for kids.
Because it has many high-end stores, the Malibu Country Mart is a popular place for famous people and wealthy visitors. It's a main gathering spot in Malibu for both locals and tourists.
Finding the Malibu Country Mart
The Malibu Country Mart is located very close to the Pacific Coast Highway. It's right in the heart of the Malibu Civic Center. You can get there in minutes from Pepperdine University, Malibu High School, and the Malibu Pier.
The property is also about 20 minutes away from West Los Angeles, the City of Santa Monica, the San Fernando Valley, and the Conejo Valley.
Who Owns the Country Mart?
The Malibu Country Mart was bought in 1986 by Koss Companies. This company is now known as Koss Real Estate Investments. They have owned and managed the property for many years.
Malibu Legacy Park Project
Right next to the Malibu Country Mart, there's a 20-acre (81,000 m2) piece of land that used to be empty. This land was sold to the City of Malibu in 2005. The rules for this land say it cannot be used for any businesses.
Plans for this site include building a modern park. This park is designed to help clean the environment. It will reduce pollution in Malibu Creek, Malibu Lagoon, and the famous Surfrider Beach. The project will also make water cleaner, bring back native plants, and keep the area open and natural. This new park will connect to Surfrider Beach, Malibu Pier, Malibu Lagoon, and Malibu Bluffs Park with a walking path.
This land has also been the location for the yearly Labor Day Weekend Chili Cook-Off festival since 1982.
Shops and Restaurants at the Mart
The Malibu Country Mart has 67 different businesses. These include many fancy boutiques, restaurants, spa services, and art galleries. Many new stores have opened at the Malibu Country Mart recently.
