History of Manchester
Manchester was first planned out in 1878. It was named after Manchester Township, Illinois. This was the former home of one of the first people to settle in the area.
The city's layout was officially recorded in 1882. A post office opened in Manchester in 1878. It served the community for many years until it closed in 1974.
