Manfred Alonso Ugalde Arce, born on May 25, 2002, is a professional football player from Costa Rica. He plays as a forward, which means he is usually at the front of the team, trying to score goals. Currently, he plays for the Russian Premier League club Spartak Moscow. He also plays for the Costa Rica national team.

Club Career Highlights
Manfred Ugalde started his exciting football journey at a young age. He quickly showed off his amazing skills on the field.
Playing for Saprissa
Manfred started playing for Saprissa, a team in Costa Rica, in early 2019. He made a big splash right away! In his first game in the CONCACAF League, he scored two goals. This helped his team win 3–1 against Belmopan Bandits.
Later that year, on October 21, he scored his first "hat-trick." This means he scored three goals in one game! Saprissa won that game 6–0 against Limón. In November, Manfred was named the Best Younger Player of the 2019 CONCACAF League tournament. He scored four goals in seven matches during that competition.
Moving to Lommel
In July 2020, Manfred signed a contract with City Football Group. This group owns many football clubs around the world. He then joined Lommel, a club in Belgium.
Loan to Twente
On June 25, 2021, Manfred went on a loan to Twente, a team in the Netherlands. A loan means he played for Twente for a season, but his main contract was still with Lommel. His loan was extended for another season on July 1, 2022.
Joining Twente Permanently
Manfred played so well for Twente that they wanted him to stay! On July 6, 2023, he officially signed a four-year contract to play for Twente permanently.
Playing for Spartak Moscow
On January 29, 2024, Manfred made another big move. He joined Spartak Moscow, a top club in the Russian Premier League. He signed a contract for four and a half years.
He quickly became a star player there. On November 23, 2024, he scored an incredible four goals in one game! Spartak Moscow won 5–2 against Lokomotiv Moscow. This amazing performance put him at the top of the league's goal scorers list with 12 goals. By the time the winter break started in December, he had scored 15 goals. He finished the 2024–25 season as the league's top scorer with 17 goals!
International Career
Manfred Ugalde also represents his home country, Costa Rica, in international football.
He made his first appearance for the senior Costa Rica team on February 1, 2020. This was in a game against the United States.
In September 2021, Manfred decided not to play for the national team for a while. This was because he had some disagreements with the coach at the time. However, after the coach left in August 2023, Manfred was called up again. He happily accepted the invitation to play for Costa Rica.
On September 8, 2023, he scored his very first goal for his country! It was during a friendly match against Saudi Arabia. His goal helped Costa Rica win the game 3–1.
