Manu started her career in 2009 and has become very popular in Brazil, especially after appearing on a famous reality TV show.

Early Life and First Steps

Manu Gavassi was born and grew up in São Paulo, Brazil. Her father, Zé Luis, is a broadcaster, and her mother, Daniela Gavassi, is a psychologist and artist. Manu has a younger sister named Catarina.

When she was 12, her father taught her how to play the guitar. Just a year later, at age 13, she wrote her very first song! Later, when she was 19, Manu moved out on her own and took acting classes to improve her skills.

Manu's Exciting Career

Starting Out in Music (2009–2011)

Manu began her journey in 2009 by working with Capricho magazine. She modeled for fashion stories and appeared in articles. A reporter from the magazine discovered Manu could sing and asked for a video of her performing.

People loved the video! Manu then started covering songs by popular artists like Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift on her own YouTube channel. Her father sent her videos to a music producer named Rick Bonadio. He liked what he saw and invited Manu to join his record label, Midas Music.

Manu quickly recorded her first album, which was named Manu Gavassi. It came out on August 31, 2010. Her first song, "Garoto Errado," was released a week before the album. Manu's first live show was on September 18, 2010. In 2011, her song "Garoto Errado" was even used in a TV show called Rebelde. Both "Garoto Errado" and "Planos Impossíveis" became very successful, earning "gold record" awards.

New Album and Acting Roles (2012–2014)

In February 2012, Manu released a new song called "Você Já Deveria Saber." She also sang two songs, "O Céu Eu Vou Tocar" and "Ao Ar Livre," for the soundtrack of the Disney movie Brave.

Her second album, Clichê Adolêscente, was released on November 29, 2013. The first song from this album, "Conto de Fadas," quickly became one of the top ten songs on iTunes Brazil. Manu also released the title track "Clichê Adolescente" and "Segredo" from this album.

Manu also started acting more. In February 2014, she appeared in the TV show Em Familia. Later that year, she played a villain named Vicki in Malhação, a very popular teen show. Fans loved her character so much that she stayed on the show until the end of the season! She also released a new song, "Esse Amor Tão Errado," with a music video filmed in Los Angeles.

Vício and First Movie (2015–2016)

In 2015, Manu began working on her first concert tour, called Vício. She released an EP (a shorter album) also named Vício on December 11, with five new songs. The famous singer Junior Lima helped produce this EP.

In 2016, she released the song "Direção" and started her Vício Tour. Another song, "Vício," had a special music video released in two parts. To unlock the video, fans had to donate blood as part of a campaign called "Play For Life." This encouraged many of her fans to help others.

In November 2016, Manu started filming her first movie, Socorro, Virei Uma Garota, where she played the main character, Melina. She also signed a new record deal with Universal Music.

New Album, Writing, and Web Series (2017–2019)

In 2018, Manu starred in a TV series called Z4. In December, she released an EP called Cute but Psycho. She also launched a web series on YouTube called Garota Errada (Wrong Girl), which she directed and wrote herself. In 2019, she released another EP, MINIDocs Nashville, which was recorded in Nashville and became number one on iTunes Brazil. Later that year, she released Cute but (still) Psycho, a second part to her previous EP.

Big Brother Brazil and Recent Projects (2020–Present)

In 2020, Manu Gavassi became even more famous when she joined the reality show Big Brother Brasil. Before entering the show, she recorded funny videos for her Garota Errada web series, which were posted on her Instagram. These videos showed her journey in the house and were a smart way to promote her work. She finished in third place on the show.

After the show, her web series "Garota Errada" became so popular that a streaming platform wanted to turn it into a full TV series! Manu also released the song "Audio of Excuses," which quickly got over a million views in 24 hours and topped music charts. Her book Olá, Caderno! also sold out and is being made into a movie.
