Manvel is a small city in Grand Forks County, North Dakota, in the United States. It is located right next to the Turtle River. Manvel is part of the larger Greater Grand Forks area. In 2020, about 377 people lived there. The city was started in 1881.
History of Manvel
The first people settled in the Manvel area in the 1860s. This was along a path used by stagecoaches. A stagecoach was like a bus pulled by horses, used for travel long ago.
Manvel officially became a town in 1881. This happened when the railroad tracks were built to reach that spot. The city was named after Allen A. Manvel. He was a passenger agent for the Great Northern Railway. A post office, where people send and receive mail, has been open in Manvel since 1882.
