Marc Kennedy (born February 5, 1982) is a famous Canadian curler. He won a gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Marc is from St. Albert, Alberta. He currently plays the "third" position on his curling team, Team Brad Jacobs.

In 2019, a poll by TSN named Marc Kennedy the greatest Canadian male "second" player in curling history. This shows how skilled he is in the sport.

Marc Kennedy's Curling Journey

Marc Kennedy started curling when he was just six years old. He grew up in St. Albert, Alberta. He quickly became a talented player, winning many championships.

Early Years and Junior Curling

As a young curler, Marc won the Canadian Winter Games championship. He also won three provincial junior championships. A provincial championship means he was the best junior curler in his province.

In 2003, Marc was an alternate player for the Brandon University team. This team won a gold medal at the 2003 Winter Universiade, which is a big sports event for university students.

Joining Top Teams

In 2003, Marc joined a team with John Morris. They played well together, reaching the final of the Canada Cup in 2004.

In 2006, Marc and John Morris teamed up with Kevin Martin. This new team became very successful.

Winning Gold Medals

With Kevin Martin's team, Marc won the Brier (Canada's national men's curling championship) in 2008. They also won the World Championships that same year.

They won the Brier again in 2009, going undefeated. This team set a record for winning 26 Brier games in a row!

The biggest win came in 2010. Marc Kennedy, Kevin Martin, John Morris, and Ben Hebert won an Olympic Gold Medal at the Vancouver Winter Olympics. They beat Norway 6-3 in the final game.

New Teams and More Success

After Kevin Martin retired in 2014, Marc joined Team Kevin Koe. In 2015, they won the Canada Cup. This win helped them qualify for the 2017 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials.

The team continued to win, taking home the 2016 Tim Hortons Brier and a gold medal at the 2016 World Men's Curling Championship in 2016. They later won the 2017 Olympic Trials and represented Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics. They finished fourth at the Olympics.

Taking a Break and Returning to Play

After the 2017-18 season, Marc decided to take a break from competitive curling. He wanted to heal from injuries and spend more time with his family. During this time, he worked as a consultant for Curling Canada.

In 2018, he was invited to play for Team Brad Jacobs at the 2018 Canada Cup. They won the event! In March 2019, Marc officially joined Team Jacobs.

Playing with Team Jacobs

Team Jacobs, with Marc Kennedy, quickly became a top team. They won three major Grand Slam events in a row: the Tour Challenge, the National, and the Canadian Open.

They also won the 2020 Northern Ontario Men's Provincial Curling Championship. At the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier, they played well but lost in a close game.

During the 2020–21 season, Marc also served as an alternate for the Brendan Bottcher team at the 2021 World Men's Curling Championship.

Olympic Bronze and New Teams

Marc Kennedy was part of the Canadian Olympic team again for the Beijing 2022 Olympics. He was the alternate player for the Brad Gushue team. This team won the 2021 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials to qualify for the Olympics. At the Olympics, they won the bronze medal, beating the United States.

After the 2022 Olympics, Marc joined a new team with Brendan Bottcher as skip, and former teammates Ben Hebert and Brett Gallant. This team had a great first season, winning their first Grand Slam title at the 2023 Canadian Open. They also finished third at the 2023 Tim Hortons Brier.

In the 2023–24 season, the Bottcher team again finished third at the 2024 Montana's Brier. In April 2024, Marc, Brett Gallant, and Ben Hebert announced that Brad Jacobs would be their new skip for the 2024–25 season.

Recent Success with Team Jacobs

In their first season together, the new Team Jacobs had a lot of success. They finished second at the 2024 National and the 2025 Masters Grand Slam events.

The Jacobs team qualified directly for the 2025 Montana's Brier based on their strong performance. At the 2025 Brier, they won the national championship, which means they represented Canada at the 2025 World Men's Curling Championship. At the World Championships, they won the bronze medal.

Life Outside Curling

Marc Kennedy is married to Nicole Kennedy, and they have two daughters. His brother, Glen Kennedy, is also a curler.

Marc studied marketing at the University of Alberta. He used to own a business and also worked as a real estate agent. He is currently studying for his MBA at the University of Alberta.

In 2016, Marc and Nicole started a youth curling event called the Marc Kennedy Junior Classic. This event helps young curlers from Canada and other countries. It's one of the biggest youth curling events in the world!

When he was younger, Marc also played Canadian football for the Edmonton Huskies.
