Marcus Beach is named after the actual beach itself. This beach stretches north into the nearby area called Castaways Beach.

The suburb is right next to the Coral Sea on its eastern side. To the west, you'll find Lake Weyba (26°26′21″S 153°04′27″E / 26.4392°S 153.0742°E / -26.4392; 153.0742 (Lake Weyba)). There are also a few creeks around. Peregian Creek is to the south-east, and Castaways Creek is partly to the north-east.

Marcus Creek also flows through the suburb. It runs just north of where people live and then empties into the Coral Sea (26°27′09″S 153°06′09″E / 26.4526°S 153.1025°E / -26.4526; 153.1025 (Marcus Creek (mouth))).

The Story Behind Marcus Beach

Marcus Beach got its name from a person! It was named after Marcus Burke. He was a property developer, which means he helped plan and build new areas. Marcus Burke was the grandson of another well-known person named T.M. Burke.

For a long time, Marcus Beach has been part of the Shire of Noosa. This is the local government group that helps manage the area. For a few years, between 2008 and 2013, it was part of a larger area called the Sunshine Coast Region. But now, it's back in the Shire of Noosa.
