Marcus Edward "Doc" Holliday was born on July 16, 1973. He is a former American football player. Marcus played as a running back for the St. Louis Rams in the National Football League (NFL). He also played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Before turning professional, he played college football at the University of Memphis.

College Football Journey
Marcus Holliday grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a big fan of the Memphis Tigers men's basketball team. Because of this, he chose to attend the University of Memphis. He picked Memphis over other schools like Ole Miss and Arkansas.
Playing for the Memphis Tigers
Holliday played for the Memphis Tigers football team from 1991 to 1994. During his time there, he became friends with future NBA stars. These friends included Penny Hardaway and David Vaughn.
In 1994, Marcus was the top rusher for his team. He gained 618 yards and scored three touchdowns that year. He also played in a special game called the Blue–Gray Football Classic.
Setting a College Record
In 1994, Memphis played against Tulane. Memphis won the game 13–0. In that game, Holliday carried the ball 42 times. This set a new record for the most rushing attempts in a single game for Memphis. He gained 151 yards in that game. This record still stands today.

Professional Football Career
Time with the St. Louis Rams
On July 24, 1996, Marcus Holliday joined the St. Louis Rams. He signed with them as a free agent. This meant he could choose which team to play for. He was happy to reunite with his former Memphis teammate, Isaac Bruce.
Holliday played in his only NFL game on December 1, 1996. The Rams won that game 26–10 against the New Orleans Saints.
Playing for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats
In 1997, Holliday played in the Canadian Football League. He joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He started one game for the team. In that game, he had two rushing attempts. He also caught two passes for seven yards each.
