Playing for Troy State University
After high school, Mareno played college football for the Troy State Trojans. He was a key player for four years, from 1996 to 1999. He also earned a business degree from Troy University.
Professional Football Career
Mareno Philyaw began his professional career in 2000. He was picked by the Atlanta Falcons in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL draft. He was the 172nd player chosen overall.
Time with the Atlanta Falcons
Mareno officially joined the Falcons on May 23, 2000. He was later released by the team on August 27, 2000.
Joining the New Orleans Saints
