Maria Luisa of Savoy (born September 17, 1688 – died February 14, 1714) was an important queen of Spain. She was the first wife of King Philip V of Spain. Maria Luisa was known for her strong love for her husband and for having a big impact on the Spanish government. She was very popular with the people of Spain during her time as queen. Sadly, she passed away in 1714. After her death, King Philip V married again to Elisabeth Farnese.

Maria Luisa Gabriella di Savoia was born on September 17, 1688. Her birthplace was the Royal Palace of Turin in the Duchy of Savoy. She was the second daughter of Victor Amadeus II, the Duke of Savoy, and Anne Marie d'Orléans.

  • Ferdinand VI of Spain (born September 23, 1713 – died August 10, 1759): He became King of Spain after his brother, Louis I. He married Infanta Barbara of Portugal. They also did not have any children.

Later Life and Legacy

Queen Maria Luisa was well-loved by the Spanish people. She worked very hard as queen and was dedicated to her family and her country. She sadly passed away on February 14, 1714, at the Royal Alcazar of Madrid. She was buried at El Escorial, a famous royal site in Spain. Her legacy as a strong and influential queen lived on.
