Outside of Football: "Pantela"

"Pantelić is a miracle of a man. He's the kind of legend that I would rarely ever meet."

Josip Šimunić, March 2013

Marko Pantelić is well-known in Serbia for his funny personality and a nickname, "Pantela." This nickname became popular because someone started writing columns in a newspaper called Kurir under the name "Pantela." These columns were written in a humorous style, like how people speak in Belgrade, and showed Pantelić's clever and charming side.

This "Pantela" idea became so popular that fans even created social media profiles on Twitter and Facebook to pretend to be him and share funny posts. Pantelić himself said he wasn't behind these profiles, but he found them amusing. He even said he would like to meet the people who created them!
