Marko Pantelić (born 15 September 1978) is a Serbian retired professional footballer. He played as a striker, which is a player who focuses on scoring goals. He represented the Serbian national team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Marko Pantelić's Football Journey
Starting Young in Greece and France
Marko Pantelić began his football career in the youth system of Red Star Belgrade. When he was just 16, he moved to Greece and signed his first professional contract with Iraklis Thessaloniki.
At 18, he moved to France to play for Paris Saint-Germain. There, he trained alongside famous players like Raí and Leonardo. After his time at PSG, he played for Lausanne in Switzerland. He scored 8 goals in 21 league matches for them.
Next, he went to Spain to play for Celta Vigo. During this period, he also played on loan for Sturm Graz in Austria.
Returning to Serbia: Obilić, Smederevo, and Red Star
In 2002, after a short break from professional football, Pantelić returned to his home country, Serbia. He joined Obilić. Many thought his career might be over, but he was determined to prove them wrong.
In January 2003, he moved to Sartid Smederevo. He quickly became a key player for the team. He helped them win the Serbia and Montenegro Cup in 2003. His great performances caught the eye of Red Star Belgrade. In January 2004, he joined Red Star, which was a big move for him.
Playing in Germany for Hertha BSC
On 31 August 2005, Pantelić joined Hertha BSC in Germany on a loan. He scored 11 goals in 28 league matches during the 2005–06 season. In April 2006, he officially joined Hertha permanently. He quickly became one of their most important strikers.
He had an even better season in 2006–07, scoring 14 goals in 32 matches. In the 2007–08 season, he continued to play well, scoring 13 goals in 28 league matches. In his final season with Hertha, he was sometimes on the bench. Hertha finished in 4th place that year. Pantelić left the club in the summer of 2009.
Time in the Netherlands with Ajax
On 1 September 2009, Pantelić signed a one-year contract with the Dutch team Ajax. He wore the number 9 shirt. During that season, he scored 16 goals and made 9 assists in 25 league matches.
Pantelić wanted to sign a longer contract with Ajax, but the club only offered another one-year deal. He decided not to accept it because he wanted a more secure future for his family. Ajax then signed another player to take his place.
Success in Greece with Olympiacos
On 21 August 2010, Pantelić joined Olympiacos in Greece. He signed a two-year contract. He scored his first goal for the team against Panserraikos. On 11 December 2011, Pantelić scored four goals in one match against Kerkyra, helping his team win. He played for Olympiacos until 2013.
Marko Pantelić's International Career
Marko Pantelić first played for the Serbian national team in a friendly match against Poland in 2003. However, he started getting called up more often from 2006 onwards.
In June 2010, he was chosen to be part of Serbia's team for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He played in group stage matches against Ghana and Australia. He scored his first World Cup goal against Australia in a match that Serbia lost 2–1.
Pantelić also scored three goals during the qualifying matches for the UEFA Euro 2012. He played his last game for Serbia in 2011. Overall, he scored 10 goals in 43 matches for his country.

Marko Pantelić is well-known in Serbia for his funny personality and a nickname, "Pantela." This nickname became popular because someone started writing columns in a newspaper called Kurir under the name "Pantela." These columns were written in a humorous style, like how people speak in Belgrade, and showed Pantelić's clever and charming side.
This "Pantela" idea became so popular that fans even created social media profiles on Twitter and Facebook to pretend to be him and share funny posts. Pantelić himself said he wasn't behind these profiles, but he found them amusing. He even said he would like to meet the people who created them!
