Marta Bassino was born in Cuneo, Piedmont, Italy. She grew up in Borgo San Dalmazzo.

When she was 18, Marta won a gold medal in the giant slalom at the Junior World Championships in 2014. This big win allowed her to compete in her first ever World Cup race that same year. The next season, 2014–15, was her first full season competing in the World Cup.

Marta Bassino's Ski Racing Achievements

Later that season, she got two more third-place finishes in giant slalom races in Kronplatz, Italy, and Aspen, USA. In Aspen, she shared the podium with her Italian teammates, which was a special moment.

In 2019, Marta won her very first World Cup race, a giant slalom event in Killington, USA. That year was amazing for her because she became the first Italian skier to get on the podium in five different types of races in one season!
