Marten Beach is a small community, called a hamlet, in northern Alberta, Canada. It is part of the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River No. 124. This peaceful spot sits right on the northeast shore of Lesser Slave Lake.

Marten Beach is about 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) west of Highway 88. It is also about 36 kilometers (22 miles) north of the Town of Slave Lake. From the big city of Edmonton, Marten Beach is about 238 kilometers (148 miles) northwest. The hamlet is very close to Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park. It also has Carlver Creek to its north and Marten Creek to its south.

How Marten Beach Started

Marten Beach was created in the middle of the 20th century. A couple named Stevie and Herb Johnson from Plamondon, Alberta founded it. They divided their land into what is now the hamlet and a nearby campground. This campground is called Diamond Willow Resort. They used these properties to earn money.

In 1991, Statistics Canada counted the number of people living in Marten Beach. The census showed that 38 people lived in the hamlet at that time.
