Marvell Wynne (born December 17, 1959) is a former American professional baseball player. He played for eight seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB). He was mainly a center fielder for teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, and Chicago Cubs. Marvell also played one season in Japan. He batted and threw with his left hand. His son, also named Marvell Wynne, became a professional soccer player.

Marvell Wynne played baseball for eight seasons. He was a student at Hirsch High School in Chicago. During his career, he played in 940 games played. He had a batting average of .247. He also hit 40 home runs and had 244 RBI (runs batted in).
Career Highlights and Records
The year 1984 was a great one for Wynne. He hit .266 and scored 77 runs. He also made 174 hits, including 24 doubles and 11 triples. He even stole 24 stolen bases. These were all his best numbers in a single season.
On April 13, 1987, Marvell Wynne made history. He, along with Tony Gwynn and John Kruk, started a game with three home runs in a row. This was a first in major league baseball! Their team, the San Diego Padres, won that game against the San Francisco Giants. All three players were left-handed.
Playing for the Cubs and in Japan
Wynne was part of the 1989 Chicago Cubs team. This team won the National League East Division title. However, they lost to the San Francisco Giants in the championship series that year. After his time in MLB, Wynne played in Japan. He joined the Hanshin Tigers in 1991, who are part of Japan's Central League.
