Mary-Kate and Ashley in Action! is an American animated TV show for kids. It stars the voices and cartoon versions of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. The show also inspired a series of books. It first aired on October 20, 2001, on the ABC block called Disney's One Saturday Morning. The show ended after one season. It was the last TV series to feature both Mary-Kate and Ashley.

Show Development and Early Plans

On December 1, 2000, DIC announced the show was being made. Its first title idea was Action Girls. It was a team effort with Canal J, and DIC handled distributing the show around the world. They originally planned to make 52 episodes.

International Airings: Around the Globe

After the show started in the United States on ABC, it was sold to other countries. In November 2001, it aired on CITV (and later Nickelodeon) in the UK. It also went to Canal J in France, Mediaset in Italy, YTV in Canada, and Fox Kids Latin America. By April 2003, Televisa in Mexico and RTÉ in Ireland also bought the rights to show it.

Where to Watch: Past Broadcasts

From September 2002 to 2003, after the channel changed its name, Toon Disney re-aired the series. It was shown alongside other programs that used to be on One Saturday Morning.

Home Entertainment: DVD Releases

You could also watch the show at home!

On June 7, 2005, Warner Home Video released a DVD called "Misty and Amber vs. Renee la Rouge." This DVD had 5 episodes that focused on the villain Renee la Rouge. The episodes came with English, Spanish, and French audio. It also included fun bonus features like a Trivia Challenge and a Villain Bio.

In 2016, the series became available on iTunes. However, it only included the same episodes that were on the first DVD.

Beyond the Screen: The Book Series

The TV show also led to a series of books! These books were published by Dualstar Books and HarperEntertainment in 2002. In the books, Mary-Kate and Ashley are special agents. They solve mysteries related to fashion and sports around the world. They travel to exciting cities like New York City, Paris, and Rome for their missions.

The book series includes:
