Matey Iliyanov Kaziyski (born September 23, 1984) is a famous Bulgarian professional volleyball player. He played for the Bulgaria men's national volleyball team from 2003 to 2012. Matey is also well-known for playing with the Italian club Trentino Volley. He even took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008. Matey has won several bronze medals, including at the World Championship in 2006 and the European Championship in 2009. He has also won many titles in the CEV Champions League and FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship with Trentino Volley.

Matey Kaziyski's Life Story

Matey Kaziyski was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. Both of his parents were also volleyball players for the Bulgarian national teams. When he was a kid, Matey tried out many different sports. He played football, basketball, and even enjoyed horse riding. Matey is now with Elisabetta Farrugio, and they had a son named Aleksander in 2017.

Matey Kaziyski's Volleyball Career

Playing for Clubs

Matey Kaziyski has worked with coach Radostin Stoychev for a long time. They have been together at several clubs since 2004, including Slavia Sofia, Dynamo Moscow, Halkbank Ankara, and Trentino Volley.

Between 2008 and 2015, Matey won 15 big titles with Trentino Volley. These included four Italian Championship titles, three CEV Champions League titles, and four Club World Championship titles. In 2015, he left Trentino Volley to play in Japan's top league. However, he returned to Trentino for the 2016 season.

Playing for the National Team

Matey Kaziyski and the Bulgarian team won a bronze medal at the 2006 World Championship. In that championship, he was one of the top five scorers and also won the award for the best server.

In 2012, Matey left the Bulgaria men's national volleyball team. He did this along with his coach, Radostin Stoytchev, because of a disagreement with the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation (BFV). Matey said he would not return to the team until the leadership of the BFV changed.
