Team History

Trofei Trentino Volley
First trophies of Trentino Club

Trentino Volley was started on May 23, 2000. Just two days later, they bought the right to play in Italy's top league, Serie A1. This happened because another team, Ravenna, had to stop playing due to money problems.

The club played its first Serie A1 game on October 15, 2000. They played against Maxicono Parma and lost 3-0. Their first home game was on October 22, 2000, against Padova. Trentino Volley won that game 3-2!

Trentino Volley is known as the most successful team in the FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship. They have won this world title four times.

In their first two seasons, the team finished in tenth and ninth place. This showed they were getting better.

Over the years, Trentino Volley brought in many talented players. Some early famous players included Lorenzo Bernardi and Andrea Sartoretti. In 2007, the team decided to focus on young, skilled players. They signed stars like Nikola Grbić from Serbia, Vladimir Nikolov and Matey Kaziyski from Bulgaria, and Emanuele Birarelli from Italy.

With these new players, Itas Trentino Diatec finished first in the regular season. They then went on to the finals. On May 7, 2008, Trentino Volley beat Piacenza 3-0. This win gave them their first national championship title! It also allowed them to play in the CEV Champions League for the 2008–2009 season.

In the 2009 Champions League, Trento played perfectly in the early rounds. On April 5, 2009, in Prague, Trento won the final against Iraklis Thessaloniki 3-1.

Later in 2009, the team traveled to Doha, Qatar, for the FIVB Men's Club World Volleyball Championship. On November 8, Trentino Betclic won the final 3-0 against Skra Bełchatów from Poland. This made them the FIVB Club World Champion! In 2010, they won the Italian Cup. They then won the Champions League again, beating Dynamo Moscow 3-0.

The team even retired the number 1 jersey for Matey Kaziyski. This was to honor all the great things he helped the team achieve. The President, Bruno Da Re, said that no other player would use that number. However, if Matey Kaziyski ever wanted to come back, he could wear it again!

The club's logos and brand names often feature a red volleyball. The eagle is also an important symbol for the club. It represents the Autonomous Province of Trento, which is where the club is based.

On July 4, 2022, Trentino Volley showed off their new logo. They had used the old one for about 22 years! The new logo was designed to look good on digital platforms and appeal to younger fans. It focuses on the club's name, "TRENTINO Volley," using the initials "TV." This makes the club seem more modern and exciting.
