While playing for Ajax, Mauro appeared in 63 league matches and scored 6 goals. After three years, in 2007, he returned to Argentina. He joined River Plate for a fee of 1.8 million euros. He helped River Plate win the Clausura 2008 tournament, which was their first title in four years.

Making His Mark in Major League Soccer

In 2011, Mauro Rosales decided to try playing in the United States. He went on trial with Seattle Sounders FC, a team in Major League Soccer (MLS). After a successful trial, the club officially signed him on March 18, 2011.

This was the third-highest number of assists in the league that year. His 13 assists also set a new record for the club. Mauro won the MLS Newcomer of the Year Award for the 2011 season. He signed a new contract with Seattle in December 2011. In his three years with the Sounders, he scored 12 goals and made 34 assists in league games. He also helped the team win the 2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

After Seattle, Mauro was traded to Chivas USA in December 2013. Then, in August 2014, he moved to Vancouver Whitecaps FC. He played 35 games for the Whitecaps, scoring one goal and assisting six others. In 2016, Mauro was traded again, this time to FC Dallas.
