Mayville's History
Mayville was first planned out in 1845. This was done by the May brothers and some other people. The city was named after the May brothers.
A post office started operating in Mayville in 1847. The city officially became a city in 1885.

Mayville has a special event each year called "Audubon Days." It happens on the first full weekend of October. This festival celebrates Mayville's German history.

In 2009, Mayville hosted the Wisconsin American Legion Baseball Class A state tournament. Fireman's Field is thought to be one of the best baseball parks in Wisconsin. The city of Mayville helps keep the field in great shape.
Fireman's Field has also hosted other big events. These include the WIAA Division 2 State Baseball Playoffs. In 2010, it was home to the Junior State Legion Baseball Tournament.
