History of McIntosh
McIntosh began in 1883. This was when 13 areas in Polk County, Minnesota, were opened for people to settle. These areas were called the "Thirteen Towns."
One of these towns was King Township. The village of McIntosh was located within King Township. The city was named after Angus John (A.J.) McIntosh. He was from Scotland and moved to the United States in 1870. He lived near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, for most of his life.
Since the 1940s, the number of people living in McIntosh has slowly gone down.
