Medora is a small village located in Macoupin County, Illinois, United States. In 2020, about 379 people lived there. This was a slight decrease from 419 people in 2010.
Where is Medora Located?
Medora is found on the western side of Macoupin County. It's right next to the border of Jersey County. Two main roads, Illinois Routes 111 and 267, run through the eastern part of the village.
These roads help connect Medora to other towns. For example, Route 111 and Route 267 go south about 9 miles to Brighton. Route 267 heads north for 13 miles to Greenfield. Route 111 goes northeast about 8 miles to Chesterfield. The county seat, Carlinville, is about 20 miles northeast.
The village covers a total area of about 0.38 square miles (0.98 square kilometers). All of this area is land. Water from the village flows northwest into a stream that leads to Macoupin Creek. This creek is part of the larger Illinois River system.
