Meiners Oaks is a small community in Ventura County, California, United States. It's located just west of the city of Ojai. In 2010, about 3,571 people lived there. The United States Census Bureau counts Meiners Oaks as a special area for statistics, called a census-designated place (CDP).

History of Meiners Oaks
Meiners Oaks is named after John Meiners, who came to America from Germany in 1848. He was a successful brewer in Milwaukee. In the 1870s, John Meiners received a large piece of land in California as payment for a debt.
When a friend checked out the land, Meiners found out he owned one of the biggest oak groves in Southern California. John Meiners visited and loved the climate. He decided to start a ranch there. He grew many fruits like lemons, oranges, plums, and apples. He also grew grains like oats and wheat. Meiners lived on his ranch off and on until he passed away in 1898.
Where is Meiners Oaks Located?
Meiners Oaks is in the middle of the Ojai Valley. It shares a border with the community of Mira Monte to the south and the city of Ojai to the east. The community is very close to the Ventura River, which has many fun hiking trails.
This area is about 70 miles (113 km) north of Los Angeles.
What is the Climate Like?
Meiners Oaks has a mediterranean climate. This means it has hot, dry summers where temperatures can go over 100°F (38°C). Winters are mild and rainy, but sometimes temperatures can drop below freezing at night. The coldest temperature ever recorded was 13°F (-11°C) in 1913. The hottest was 119°F (48°C) in 1917.
Most of the rain falls between October and April. Summers are usually very dry. When it does rain, it can be very heavy. For example, on February 24, 1913, over 9 inches (229 mm) of rain fell in one day! The average yearly rainfall is about 18.1 inches (460 mm).
