Mellikon is a small village and municipality located in the Zurzach district. It is part of the canton of Aargau in Switzerland.

History of Mellikon
Mellikon was first mentioned in old records in the year 1113. Back then, it was known as Meliken. The village grew from a farm that belonged to Zurzach Abbey, which was a type of monastery. However, the Abbey only officially recognized Mellikon as its own municipality in 1661.
During the Protestant Reformation, a time when many people changed their religious beliefs, most people in Mellikon became Protestant. The Protestants joined the church community of Zurzach. The Catholic residents also belonged to the Catholic church community in Zurzach.
In 1645, a man named Jost von Roll from Uri built a large house and a Catholic chapel in Mellikon. This chapel is still used today for worship and as a burial place for the von Roll family.
A limestone quarry in the village was used until the 1980s by a company called Schweiz Sodafabrik. Later, in the 1990s, another company, Mellikon AG, used it. Starting in 1990, a new area for factories and businesses was built west of the village. In 1995, Mellikon got connected to the Swiss Federal Railways train line that runs through the Rhine Valley. Most people who live in Mellikon work outside the village.
Geography of Mellikon
Mellikon covers an area of about 2.71 square kilometers (1.05 square miles). A large part of this land, about 27.3%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 50.2% of the area.
Around 17.7% of the land is developed with buildings or roads. A small part, about 4.1%, is made up of rivers or lakes. Most of the water in the municipality is flowing water.
The village is located in the Zurzach district. It sits in a small valley to the east of the Nurren river, which is in the Rhine valley. Mellikon is a haufendorf village. This means it's an old, unplanned village with houses built closely together around a central area.

Mellikon has a population of about 255 people. As of 2008, about 44.4% of the people living in Mellikon were foreign nationals, meaning they were from other countries. Over ten years, from 1997 to 2007, the population decreased by about 6.7%.
