Farmers Creek Community

  • Farmers Creek is a small, unnamed community. It sits on the border between Metamora Township and Hadley Township. The community was named after a nearby stream.
  • John L. Morse bought land here in 1833 and settled in 1834. John Look and his family also settled here in 1834.
  • Morse became the first postmaster on January 3, 1836. The post office operated until September 30, 1903.

Thornville Community

  • Thornville is another small, unnamed community. It is on the border between Metamora Township and Dryden Township.
  • It first had a post office named "Amboy" on March 21, 1837. Joseph S. Gibbins was the first postmaster.
  • Benjamin Thorne, who moved here in 1839, became the third postmaster in 1845. On July 14, 1854, the community and post office were renamed Thornville after him. The post office closed on June 30, 1905.
