Story and Setting
The Main Story
The game's hero is Samus Aran, a brave bounty hunter. The Galactic Federation sends Samus on a very important mission. She must travel to a planet called SR388. Her job is to find and get rid of all the dangerous creatures called Metroids. These Metroids are a big threat to the galaxy.
Samus explores deep underground areas of the planet. She fights and defeats almost every Metroid she finds. Finally, she faces the most powerful one, the Metroid Queen. After a tough battle, Samus defeats the Queen.
Then, something surprising happens. A Baby Metroid hatches and thinks Samus is its mother! Samus decides to protect the baby. She takes the Baby Metroid with her when she leaves the planet SR388.
Where the Game Takes Place
Most of Metroid II happens deep underground. Players see very little of the planet SR388's surface. The underground areas are often dark and full of rocky platforms. Close to the surface, there is a lot of hot lava. This makes exploring the planet a challenging adventure.
How to Play
Metroid II builds on the gameplay of the first Metroid game. It keeps many classic features. Players use Samus's special Beams to shoot enemies. She can also turn into a Morph Ball to roll through small spaces. Missiles are used for stronger attacks. Samus can also perform special jumps to reach new areas.
The game lets players explore the world freely. It is very nonlinear, meaning you don't have to follow a strict path. As Samus explores, she finds many different enemies. She also discovers new power-ups that give her new abilities. These power-ups help her reach new parts of the world and defeat stronger enemies.
