Mic Conway, born on February 15, 1951, is a talented Australian performer. He is a singer and plays many different instruments. With his brother, Jim Conway, he helped start a famous band in the 1970s called The Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band. Mic also helped create Soapbox Circus, which later became the well-known Circus Oz. He's known for playing unusual instruments and doing cool tricks like magic, juggling, tap dancing, and even fire eating!

Mic Conway's Early Life and Music

Mic Conway and his brother Jim went to Camberwell High School together. While they were there, they started a band called the Jelly Bean Jug Band. This band later grew into The Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band.

Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band Success

The Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band became very popular in the 1970s. They released seven music records. Two of these records sold so many copies that they earned "gold status."

From Circus to TV Star

In the 1970s, Mic also joined the Pram Factory Theatre. There, he helped create the Soapbox Circus with his bandmates. Mic was the ringmaster, a musician, a juggler, and an acrobat in the circus. This circus act later became Circus Oz in 1978, which is a famous Australian circus.

Mic was also part of the Conway Brothers Hiccups Orchestra from 1984 to 1988. They even toured the UK in 1986. They performed at big events like the Edinburgh Festival. In 1988, the Conway Brothers performed at the Houston International Festival and World Expo 88.

Becoming a Children's Performer

In the 1990s, Mic Conway started a new part of his career. He became a performer for children. He appeared on popular Australian kids' TV shows. These included Humphrey B. Bear, where he was known as 'Magic Mic'. He also appeared on Play School, Mr. Squiggle, and ABC 4 Kids.

Mic Conway even won an ARIA award in 1994 for his children's music. ARIA stands for the Australian Recording Industry Association. It's like the Grammy Awards for Australian music.

Working with The Wiggles

Mic Conway was a regular part of The Wiggles team for many years. He provided the voice of Wags the Dog for their TV series. He also helped write some of their songs. You might have seen him in their videos, including The Wiggles Movie.

Today, Mic Conway also has his own band called Mic Conway's National Junk Band.
